Christopher Kaufman’s readings are a multi-media feast. Live narration is combined with full cinematic symphonic music and sound design. The graphically illustrated book pages stream by on screen. The experience is truly immersive.
Kaufman uses a traveling kit that he sets up in just a few minutes. One plug and 8×8 of space or less. Access to dimming lights is helpful.

TALES OF THE OCEAN CITY
Here is an example from Kaufman’s exciting Classical Epic Fantasy series TALES OF THE OCEAN CITY – Book One: Battle In The Sky.
Press picture to see demo on my YouTube channel.
Tales Of The Ocean City is the story of a young civilization turning the corner into the future – first, they must face an enemy from the deep past – THE VORM. In BOOK ONE the main characters: Harl’ut – a young man and his companion, Vispushin – a kind of telepathic pegasus of the race, perianth – they speak mind-to-mind – are flying over the southern plain. They see the Princess Bryn’lynn and her perianth-bond, Zhii’gla. As Harl’ut goes to greet the Princess, they are attacked by vicious Vorm warriors. Thus ensues a terrific battle over the southern plain. The conclusion is memorable and inspiring.
TALES OF THE OCEAN CITY IS AN ONGOING CLASSICAL EPIC FANTASY SERIES
which evolves to fantasy sci-fi.
Books one through five comprise the opening series – The Vorm War – books four and five of which focus on the epic war with Vorm and Harl’ut and Vispushin’s heroic adventures.
Books six through eight (which I am presently completing) comprise the second over-all series – The Green World – where the twain adventure into the underworld of their planet, Tir’Whol, to the neighboring planet, Orshellia and thence to the thrilling conclusion of this series on the planet Phy’tthon.

THE ADVENTURES OF SQUIGGLE T. BUGLET IN THE MUSICAL FOREST
“Christopher Kaufman’s The Musical Forest builds on the tradition of Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat and Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, creating a unique performance work that entertains and educates in an original work of art” – Emmy award winning composer, Joe Carroll – who worked with Jim Henson for many years on projects such as Sesame Street.
In ‘The Musical Forest’, the main character, Squiggle T. Buglet, adventures through The Musical Forest learning music words and engaging in musical adventures with her teacher friends – from whom she earns ‘seed pods’ for music fundamentals. Her goal is to take these seed pods to The Mysterious Cave of Doctor Soundartus and play music on his Magic Music Wall, which she does in the final episode.
Kaufman’s reading performance combines beautiful symphonic music, the graphically illustrated pages and video from a live performance he and his daughter, Sophie, gave when she was 7 years old. Kaufman narrates and uses puppets he created for the performances.

Doctor Kaufman and his daughter, Sophie, have performed this work in workshop form, as chamber concert performances and with full orchestra.
